Come and join us as the instructor, Ms. Taeiko Matsumoto works with you interactively to create beautiful Sumi-e Japanese brush and ink painting that can be used for greeting cards, New Year cards or simply frame it.
About the Workshop:
Sumi-e is a traditional Japanese ink painting which uses only black ink painted on Washi (special Japanese paper) Sumi-e was developed in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) mainly by Zen monks. Therefore it has a spiritual nature. Most of the motifs are nature scenes like mountains, rivers, trees, flowers and fruits, because they thought there are spiritual entities in nature. In this hour-and-a-half workshop, participants will have the opportunity to paint a simple sumi-e painting.
