Shodo - Japanese Calligraphy II/III (Intermediate-Pre.Advanced) & Art Shodo   

Instructor: Aya Koga sensei (Certified Japanese calligrapher whose license received in Japan.)

Shodo is Japanese traditional art of calligraphy using a brush (fude) and charcoal ink (sumi) on paper, wood plaques, and fabric.  It includes Japanese Kanji and  hiragana. Shodo originated in the techniques used for letter writing with its unique form of expression and developed into an art genre. This hands-on class will introduce the techniques of shodo

The Shodo - Japanese Calligraphy class is offered to two different levels of students.. 

The goal for Shodo II /III is to master advanced strokes and styles of Japanese Calligraphy. Also, students will be expected to write well-balanced Shodo and to explain their own works.


 
 
 
Note that materials for the course (brush, ink, paper, a felt pad, and a paperweight) provided in class are for classroom use only.
