Film Screening and Director's Talk

The JASGA's June 2017 cultural program will present two short film screening and a talk by the film director, Yuta Yamaguchi on Wednesday, June 28.

The following two short films are presented in Japanese with Englsh subtitles.  

1) Jazz Abroad chronicles three Japanese female jazz musicians who formed an unique jazz trio while they traveled abroad to an unfamiliar world to study music. Their love for music and their friendship has spanned time and space.

2) Matsuri is a short film about a girl who asks about her father’s favorite memory.

 

About Yuta Yamaguchi:

Yuta's filmography includes movies that have screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010, 2011, and 2014. Yuta was lauded by Indiewire for his, "striking visual work” on Wolf, which premiered at SXSW and won the Panavision Best Texas Feature Film Award at the Dallas International Film Festival. Yuta also served as the Associate Producer on August Evening, which won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards. Bilingual in English and Japanese, Yuta is a graduate of the Radio-Television-Film program at the University of Texas.

This event is a family friendly and wheelchair accessible.

One of the interviewees and an actor in the films will be joining us for this screening event!

Open to the public -  ADMISSION IS FREE!
