KYUDO 弓道  - THE WAY OF THE JAPANESE BOW

Surugadai College Kyudo clubAs part of the 2018 cultural series in June 2018, JASGA will present Kyudo (弓道), the Japanese martial arts of archery by Austin Kyudo and Emiko Kyudojo at Rising Sun Aikido Dojo on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Kyudo, which literally means the "Way of the Bow", is considered by many to be the purest of all the martial ways.  In the past, In Japan, the bow was traditionally used for hunting, war, court ceremonies, games, and contests of skill.

The aim of Kyudo is to train the body and mind through the act of shooting an arrow with a bow.  There’s more to kyudo than hitting the target; performing the fundamental movements or forms correctly is also considered important.
