Public Information Session on the Oita Grassroots Summit

The Japan-America Society of Greater Austin (JASGA) is organizing a delegation to represent Austin and Central Texas at the 2015 Japan-America Grassroots Summit that will be held July 6-13 in Oita Prefecture, Japan. 

This week-long trip, which is open to the general public, includes a homestay in a Japanese community.  Persons interested in learning more about this opportunity are encouraged to attend this free public information session.  The brochure with the detailed information will be received.

Presenter:  Elaine Browning, Japan-America Society of Dallas/Ft.Worth (JASDFW) President and expert on Japanese culture, will share program highlights and photographs from her recent trip to Oita.

Oita prefecture is located in the southern island, Kyushu. The region is blessed with natural treasures, as it is close to both the mountains and the sea, and it has a rich history and cultural heritage. Oita is famous for onsen (hot springs) such as Beppu and Yufuin and is known as the “Onsen Capital of Japan”.
